Kidney question
5 Answers
A member of my family has a CKD level of 3, she's in her early 30s. She has no problems (urine infections), it was just picked up in a routine blood test so the doc requested another test and that was her latest level so are keeping an eye on it.
What are the chances of the kidney function getting worse? Or can you live with level 3 for years and be ok? Many thanks.

You have the websites above but I can add very little except to say....
Providing that the patient is well investigated and supervised by the GP eg weight BP, cholesterol and urine tests, then very few patients with CKD stage 3 progress. I do not know the actual figures but it is less than 20%.......less than. 1 in 5 of that age group.
So yes......if she/he takes care of her health, many years are ahead without progression.

@MissC - Not sure if you will see this post or not, but there was a very interesting documentary on R4 recently, which highlighted the issues surrounding the diagnosis of CKD.
It gets interesting with respect to CKD from about 10 minutes in....
