I shall be spending most of the next week at My mother`s house clearing out years of rubbish.
I`ve made a start this week and so far have discovered.
11 new handbags......she only ever used one tatty one.
24 boxed cufflinks......not my late Dad`s.
28 plastic bags of pennies.
19 St.Brigid Crosses.
Uncountable slices of toast down the sofa.
AND!!!
Under the bed...£150 and a receipt, in her name, for a pistol and ammunition dated three years ago. She was well into dementia then.
We are now searching for the pistol and wondering what the hell she used it for.
All Bank of England bank notes retain their face value for ever, most local banks or post offices will accept them, or if not the bank of England will exchange them for modern notes.
Gness, I haven't read through all the answers here but somebody was spot on when they said about the religious statues fetching good money. I bought a box full at an auction and I made over £200 profit. If you cant do eBay, find a freind who can, or at least put them all in a box and take them to your nearest auction house! Good luck.
Really?? Wow. Didn`t think anyone would want those. I`m wondering if I binned any yesterday now. Looks like a trip to Ma`s and a gather up of plaster saints before bin day.
The big virgin will still have her block knocked off though. :-)
