Royal Mail have announced they are rolling this sevice to the whole of the UK soon so i have just filled in the form to get a sticker to 'Opt Out' which stop large parcels and Signed for post being delivered to neighbours if you are out and also stops others peoples post being delivered to me.

The OH works on the night shift and sleeps during the day and often he gets woken up by couriers who hammer the door so loudly he nearly has a heart attack trying to leave parcels with us for other people, now he will get woken up by Royal Mail as well, also i have a very horrible neighbour who i don't speak to as he he very abusive to people in the neighbourhood so definatley don't want my mail going to him.

I know alot of people already take in neighbours post and have done for years, but some people have some dodgy neighbours.

At least we can choose to opt out though.

the Hermes delivery driver doesn't bother disturbing my neighbours, he just shoves a parcel behind the wheelie bin at the side of the house, stupid eejit.

Dotty, years ago when i lived at my old address my husband ordered a playstation console worth a few hundred pounds and the courier didn't leave a card, just happened to find it in the back garden he had dropped it over a 6ft gate onto my concrete slabs, how it didn't get broken i will never know.
I sleep on a shift pattern, often going back to bed at six am and sleeping until 11 am or later. I just put a sign on my door saying do not knock or ring, if the delivery doesn't need a signature leave it in the porch, if it needs a signature leave a card and I will arrange redelivery. It works very well. Bir surprised that the mail need to do this as I live in a small close and we have been taking parcels in for each other for years.
Isn't this what already happens in the main though??
We're happy to take in parcels for all our neighbours except one, and they're the same. We have been asked a couple of times to accept a parcel for the one neighbour we have nothing to do with and have just said no.
I can't actually see that it will make much difference to most peoples circumstances.
