The song Space Cowboy by The Steve Miller Band was a Levi's ad song in the early 1980s.
The song was actually 'The Joker', and it was one of many used in the Levis ad campaign, which single-handednly kicked off the 'pop as ad. music' campaigns which are still running now. First off was 'I Heard It Through The Grapevine' by Marvin Gaye, and next was 'When A Man Loves A Woman' by Percy Sledge. Also in there, though maybe not in order, are Babylon Zoo's 'Spaceman' and T. Rex's '20th Century Boy', 'Mad About The Boy' by Dinah Washington, and apparently there's shedloads more that were shown worldwide, but not in the UK. Hope that helps.
the website www.tvadmusic.co.uk lists about 30, and you can get a CD through the site on import from France called 'Levi's Advert Music' which has the Levi's ad music right up to the current 'Twisted' ad by Pepe Deluxe. Look on the tv ad music homepage.
