USB External Hard drive

I am thinking of buying an USB external hard drive for my PC. I would like to know what is the lowest capacity available in the market as I am only intending to store mp3/music on there. How much Gb of hard drive would be efficient for music? and how much would it cost roughly? any ideas ? Please help.

I think 40Gb seems to be the smallest. Mine cost about �60 but it was a "portable" one which doesn't need a separate power supply. For the same price you could get a 80Gb one to use only with a p/s. Should be plenty for music but there is a law which says you will fill up whatever size you buy!

PC World have a good offer going at the moment. A 250GB External HDD for just �89. I picked up a Western Digital one a few weeks back. 160gb for �65. As BenDToy said though, the law is that whatever size you buy, it will fill up....quick

I transfered my entire music ocllection to MP3 a while ago, I had about 2000 CD's half albums half singles (but had 3-5 tracks on each). That takes up something like 100Gb of my 250Gb Western digital drive.

Personally I'd go for something of that size, that gives you room to grow. As for cost as others have said you can pick up a 250Gb drive for around �100

Yes, don't hold back on the storage - especially at today's falling prices. A large capacity also allows you to save some of your favourite (best?) tracks in wav format (for 'quality') rather than mp3.
