Could it be something to do with you announcing on Facebook that you're off for a few weeks on holiday? When you return, surprise surprise, your house has been robbed. That might, or should affect your insurance claim
yes i agree that's what it will mean. it's an easy way for burglars to select targets, no need to go out in all weathers trying to guess which house is empty.
Sandy is right, it's to do with people sharing too much info on social networks.
If you advertise the fact that you just bought a new ipad and then used it to book your holiday and you'll be flying off tomorrow morning then don't be surprised when you get burgled and your insurers won't pay out.
from now on I shall keep schtum and with regards to me being out on Sunday, burglars pls note that Chief Stout, bro-in-law and 2 very protective dogs will still be at home.
not just that, I think folks whose hoses get trashed by party gatecrashers who put the party on twitter/facebook etc might have problems claiming as well.
Saw an example of this just yesterday.
I'm a member of a Facebook Group called "Townnamefreebay".
People post stuff they don't need any more and rather chuck it , offer it for free.
Someone yesterday was posting items and two people were obviously getting alerted via e-mail , that then sent an autoreply saying they were on holiday and the reply was posted as a comment under the item for free on the facebook group. So they were telling x thousand strangers there full name and they were on holiday lol
Example of one of the posted comments below :-)
I am in sunny Pembrokeshire with not much internet so I probably won't answer your message until 1st September. Hope it will keep until then.
It's nothing new is it. It used to be quite common for houses of the deceased to be burgled when their funeral was on, after being announced in the local paper............
