Went to the local garage (7 mile round trip) at 6am to pick up the Saturday Telegraph, they hadn't arrived, which means waiting until we go into town around 10am....how will I manage without the crossword until then, withdrawl symptoms setting in already

Ah well, there's always the AB to see the answers, just working out the clues!

Come to think of it, if you have to drive 7 miles to buy an expensive paper, why not read it on line and pay to join the puzzle section?
Does the puzzle section include the GK which is published in the paper, Hopkirk? Thanks
Looks like it, see on the left

However whether you get the latest one when it is in the real paper, I don't know.

I got this by googling, not by personal experience.

Thank you for the answers and link.

Only buy one newspaper a week and old habits die hard. It's all part of the Saturday experience and the paper lasts all week
Could you get it delivered?
By the way Blue Toffee, did you see my memory of an Everton match I went to after school in the seventies?

It was after your accidental foray into this thread

Yes Hopkirk, I did, and thank you for the story.

My memories of an early game against WBA was the 1968 cup final when a certain Mr Astle brough my dreams of a second cup in 2 seasons to a crashing end!
Excellent!

Unfortunately I don't remember my interest in football having developed enough to enjoy that day.

I can remember the disappointment of the 1970 World Cup, but have no memory of the 1966 win.
