I've just watched the Hard Rock calling programm that I recorded a while back, and Paul McCartney really is the embarassing uncle who has had one drink too many and doesn't know when it is time to leave the party. His duet with Bruce Springsprong was excruciating and I can only commend those who pulled the plug.
Don't dislike Springsteen, but think he is greatly overrated. Have never particularly liked anything he has done. But then I feel the same about Bono and U2.
I don't think Brian Ferry has a great voice either ummmm, but I still like listening to him and same for Rod Stewart. It's not really about the voice though is it it's the musicality and the feeling portrayed in the voice.
Neil Young is one of my all time favourites, and a tremendous live act to boot, but Bob Dylan's nasal whining voice makes me want to prepetrate random acts of violence.
