eugeot 406 estate car water drip when air con is on

hi i have peugeot 406 estate car and have noticed when my air con is on it is dripping water underneath the car above the exhaust around the middle of car , there is a rubber bung there but why is it dripping water from there onto exhaust.anyone have any ideas please

It might be normal for your car to do that.

Many many years ago, when I first travelled to the USA, the hire car came with Q&A sheet.

I recall one of the questions stated something to the effect:-

Q: I have noticed a small amount of water dripping from the underside of the car, what should I do?

A: it is normal for cars fitted with aircon to drip water in this way when the aircon is switched on.

No doubt hire car company’s in the USA were getting calls from concerned motorist who were not used to aircon on cars in their home country.

It's perfectly normal for cars with air con to drip the excess water removed from the conditioned air out under the car.

Just as your fridge drips water - usuallly onto the compressor so that it evaporates- you car's A/C will drip after being used.
