I was a member of a couple of private groups on facebook but now that it has changed to timeline I can't see how or where to access the groups.

I'm sure I'm being stupid but I just can't see them. Need help!

Thanks.

They are on the homepage on the left, not on your profile page.
Don't think ive met a single person who likes this "compulsory" timeline thing.
I quite like it :)
You can find the list of groups you belong to on the left side of your home page. Click More to expand the list and manage your groups bookmarks and settings.

Ah thanks Mojo and johny - so my homepage isn't going to change?

I have another question then . . .
what is the difference between what appears on my homepage and my profile page?
home is your newsfeed, access to groups info etc, you profile page is about you
ojread2 - so you are enjoying Timeline. Could you tell me how to access my wall? In my view Facebook has become 'unfriendly'.
Hammerman, I think most people do actually like it once they have got used to it.

I like, I opted for it months ago.

Thanks mcfluff - so my profile page shows if I have been tagged and what/who I like . . . but my homepage is where I see all my friends posts?

I promise that I have gone through the timeline tutorial - it's just that I was never confident on facebook the change so I'm a bit flummoxed now!

sir.prize - is your wall now your profile page maybe?
I hate timeline, it's messy and untidy. I didn't ask for it and I don't want it.
I'm with Hammerman on this. I cannot even find my profile.
Profile is where your name is.
Time line is fine.

Like Chuck says...It's free, don't moan!

I don't know whether I like it or not but either way it is here to stay, so I'm just going to try to understand it as best I can and make the best of it!

One more question however:
the private group that I am in . . . I have had a look at my security settings and they seem to be the same as they were before timeline, but do I need to do anything else to make sure that only the correct people can see what I type in the private group? Eg when I look in my 'Activity Log' it shows posts from the private group and when I hover over the small circle to the right of the comment it says "allowed on timeline". But I don't want all my friends to see those private comments, just the people in the private group.
Oh lordy I hope that all made sense!
No..private groups stay private. Do you not have to click on them before you can comment? If it appears on your time-line it should say something like 'shivvy > group'

Only the group can see that...and only you can see it on your time line.

Thank you for reassuring me ummm.

So sorry to sound thick but I'm sure this will be my last question . . .

Am I right in summarising how fb now works by saying that
1. There are 2 functions of my homepage. Firstly it is where I go to look at everything that all my contacts have been posting (newsfeed). And secondly it is where I can post in my private group.
2. My profile page contains all the info that other people can see about me ie friends, pics etc. It also shows where/when I have been tagged (in the timeline) and shows posts I have made in the newsfeed (in the Activity Log). Both of these (although duplications) are now laid out in an easier to access chronological order.

Is that accurate?
No...your group should be on the left. You have to click on the group to post in it. Unless someone has posted in it and it appears on your newsfeed...then you can post from that. To be safe....click on the group name before replying.
Question Author
Thanks ummm, that is how I would have used it before the timeline changeover.

Aside from the group issue, is my 15.01 post roughly right about an overall summary of how facebook works in general?
