I am 15 and would like a job in my local town centre as there is more variety than in the village i live in. the problem is i have a late birthday and do not have my national insurance number yet, most of the shops i would like to apply for only take on 16s and older. does anyone know if this is the case with all major shops?

hana, I think its the law apart from paper rounds

I've just done some checking. Unles special conditions apply eg actors, sport etc. children under 14 cannot be employed except in light duties, 15 year olds have limits on how long they can work for and when they can work. I guess its less hassle for shops to just not to employ under 16's

faith (the shoe shop) employs 15 year olds but there are some things you can't do, like work on sundays. Theres a bit of info on their website but if theres one near you you could go in and ask, I'm sure if they employ 15 year olds a few other shops will
