When I switched on this a.m. Firefox immediately did updates and then said 'incompatible add-ons are Winstrip classic 4.0.7 and Zone alarm security engine 1.5.3880 -they searched for similar compatible add-ons but didn't come up with any. My questions are ' should I be concerned about this, what are they, and do I need them? TIA - rosy
Just to really throw the cat among the pigeons....
If your using a router (and haven't been silly and set it up to forward all ports or put your computer in a DMZ) and have just the windows firewall in it's default setting (inbound only) you may as well turn the windows firewall off, it won't be doing bugger all.
I meant I never use windows explorer browser, MarkRae because it always slows things down. I don't have a router, I have an ethernet cable modem. The windows firewall is switched off anyway Chuck, as I said, because I thought there should just be one firewall in use- it is probably obvious I don't understand technology- thank you for your replies - rosy
I think rosy meant to say they aren't using windows firewall, rather than they weren't using windows.
Basically, just update your firewall, ignore the warnings about the add-ins, they are not that important, as I said earlier the zone alarm firefox add-in is nothing to do with the zone alarm firewall, that will continue to work as it always has.
yes Chuck (and Ron) that is what I meant, I am just not using windows explorer browser, sorry if I confused you (bet not as much as I confuse myself sometimes :0) Thank you Chuck but am I correct in thinking I must just have one firewall then? TIA rosy
