Why is my DVD in Black and white

I have bought a DVD player, and whenever i use it the picture is perfect but in black and white- i am running through a scart- the re is only one scart socket in my tv? any ideas

I remember this problem occurring on some old Ferguson sets and it was the setting of the scart socket. If it was set to RGB it would display a black and white picture from a video, so try checking the manual to see if this can be switched to composite video.
I get black and white on a multi region cos I had a Region 1 dvd in. I moved the switch at the pack from Auto to Pal and now it is fine.
check that the scart soket is in the tv properly
