My son is in a private rent house and wants to buy an electric cooker (oven/hob/grill) for the property. The landlord has provided an ordinary 13amp socket in the kitchen and has told my son he can use a table top type cooker that has a plug on the nd of the cable. The landlord refuses to install a proper cooker switch. Can the landlord refuse to do this? I've never been in a house without a CCU. There is mains gas laid on to the kitchen.
I would have thought if it was a furnished let that adequate cooking facilities would have to be provided.
If unfurnished then provision of gas supply may be sufficient.
