Update: Ovarian Cancer

Just to update, my good friend and neighbour got her biopsy result today - she doesn't have Ovarian Cancer but advanced Hodgkins Lymphoma, she was in bits this afternoon.

Right....she has a better and more favourable future with Hodgkins Lymphoma than she would with the equivalent stage of Ovarian Cancer.

Depending upon the stage, we are looking at 60-90% 5 year survival.

How old is she? I had advanced hodgkins with little chance....over 25 years ago :). It doesn't have to be all doom and gloom. I hope she does well.

Tone - yep, it is the treatable form - my lovely Aunt died at the age of 48 with non-hodgkins.

She has to have a bone marrow test done this Friday, which I will go with her and then she has to have a PET Scan done at St. Thomas in London before they decided on what course of treatment.

The Consultant told her, if they had caught it earlier, it would have been just radiotherapy. Strange thing is, this time last year, she had a lump come up in her neck - she had it scanned and they said it was just fatty tissue, I would think this could have been the starting of it.

She is 76 years old but quite fit and is on no other medication. They are a little concerned though about a larger unexplained lump in the middle of her abdomen, and the conditions of her bones.

I'm pleased if one can be - I lost a dear friend to ovarian cancer fifteen years ago, hopefull her prognosis will be better with hodgkins.
