Indicators
If indicators do not self cancel after turning - is that a MOT failure ?
Also is there a site where you can see a list of things that are MOT failures ?

Just took over ownership of a Pegeout 307 - 51 plate ( from daughter )
- Air Bag light constantly on .
- Multifunction display ' was not working ' ( problem solved - needed new bulbs )
- When you turn the key to the first notch , - oil pressure warning light does not come on - i thought it was supposed to momentarily display and then go out after engine is started . (Someone told me that on Pegeouts the oil pressure light only comes on WHEN there is a problem - I dont know if that is correct or not )
Oil leak which appears to be coming from the end of the engine , where the cam belt is situated ( which seems to have appeared after cam belt was changed - i dont know if there is a connection )
Noise when car is being driven - someone listened to it and told me that it sounds like the gear box - ( all the gears are obtainable without difficulty ) - i assume the gear box would have to be taken out to see if it is the cause of the problem ?
Apart from that it is ok - lol .
Any ideas on the foregoing would be much appreciated

methyl - The MOT checklist at the VOSA website posted earlier is still the current official checklist.
The Testing Directive introduced a number of new items to the MOT test in January this year. To give motorists and testers time to get used to these additions to the test, testers were instructed to treat these items as ‘advisory’ until April.
Special Notice 03–2012 was issued in May to let testers know that this ‘advisory’ period has been extended to allow time for the legal work around changing the regulations to be completed. Once this process is complete, a date will be set from which testers will treat these new items as a full part of the MOT test.
At that point the MOT checklist in that link will be updated to reflect the changes.

WOW Baz you have certainly got a load of mess.
(a) Nope, as above, self-cancel is not relevant to MOT. It can be annoying and dangerous but, as the driver, you are responsible for ensuring indications are correct - i.e. manual cancellation in this case. I agree with woofgang, sharpness of turn is the test (and it varies from car to car); (b) for MOT failure list, refer to last MOT certificate and the mechanic's recommendations for future attention. Mind you they've changed the certificate again this year!; (c) Aagh, the agony of all motorists: this bloody computerised display. I heard of someone re: airbag light always on - he has ignored it for years, withour probs, and is still alive - however I cannot recommend ignoral; (d) READ THIS!
I THINK YOU ARE WORRYING ABOUT SMALL-BEER as your major problem seems to be the oil-leak/cam-belt. Sounds like the head-gasket is blown. Expensive. But even more critical is the cam-belt system, if it's not right. If YOU link the oil-leak to cam-belt change [I bow to experts here] but speaking as a car-mechanic-innocent and fellow past-sufferer, it sounds like timing of the belt is wrong or there is a failure in the timing cogs or the plastic runners (the kit).
It is NOT sufficient just to exchange the belt, as though it was the cooling belt, but to have the WHOLE kit checked, possibly renewed and then the correct timing set. The cam-belt, formerly the "timing-chain", and the whole kit is VITAL! If this system fails then the fuel valves will be bent and that means a "new" car. Even worse, failure could bring the car to a sudden stop. The latter is deadly if you are being tail-gated (illegal but idiots still do it).
If it's out of warranty, DON'T put it into Dealer's-hands (in your case Peugot). Find a good "sole-trader" mechanic who knows his stuff. He might even say "dump it, not worth throwing more good money after bad". Peugot or Other-Make Dealers will never say that! Sorry for pessimism and hope others wiser than me are more positive.
Good luck Baz.
