Playing Midi Files.

Greetings each.

I have been downloading big-band midi demo-clips from the internet and loading them into a Hammond XH-200 organ on floppy disk.

The midi compiler tells me that he uses a Korg X5 synthesiser to play his tracks, but these are now like gold-dust!!!

Can anyone please suggest a decent organ/keyboard/synth which will reproduce the instrumental sounds faithfully.

My gut feeling is to return to Roland, as the Atelier AT-80 organ I used to own had sampled instrumental sounds which are out of this world!

Hi. have you ever considerd an external sound module. That way you can keep your organ (i take it has midi in's and out's?) and use it to play the sounds on the module. i'm too clued up on midi but my college tutor said they where really good. I'm sure any good Korg module would have the same sort of sounds as on the X5.

Thanks for that. Wot do you mean by "were very good"? They/it is/are STILL very good and still being used by musicians everywhere.

Unfortunately I have only just started dabbling!

External sound module sounds like a good idea. I shall have to visit my local music shop for a demo. Then perhaps I can buy a cheapo on Ebay!!!

sorry...i ment "are very good". Plus you can get some which will take 3.5 floppys direct. They're also great if you have a sequencer.
