got a pug 308 ,if i drive slowly and keep the revs low whilst changing alls fine, but if the revs are about 2000 or above going from 2nd to 3rd i get a grind ,not a huge crunch just a little grunt it sometimes happens when going from 5th to 4th ..any ideas

What is your milage, year of car, are you depressing the pedal far enough down? is there any obstruction ( Mat) causing the restriction of the pedal?

With respect to Methyl's answer, Should the dealer "TRY IT ON" & say It's going to cost you, contact Peugeot UK at Coventry, give them all information, details, VIN No/ Reg No/ check your Service Book to see if there has been any probs prior, argue your case that the Unit's G/Box should NOT be in this state or repair with this short milage ( Do not be fobbed off) make a note of who you speak to, their position, Dept, date time your call, if you email, Print off your correspondence, & ref No If they give you one, Good luck, but do give in.
15-6-2012: Clutch master cylinder and slave cylinder failures seem to be common at around 3 years old on 1.6HDI models.

Not a 1.6HDI perchance? Regardless of whether or not it is the clutch hydraulic failure might well give you these symptoms
