If you pop down to Essex I've heard you can catch them under Claton pier on friday nights.
Don't know about restaurants but be sure to see a sunset. Hunstanton is the only place on the east coast where the sun sets into the sea. Most strange.
No sorry.......as a kid, i would cycle from Peterborough to Hunstanton and the only thing that was there were bloody sand dunes.
My late husband and I stayed at a very nice hotel there 7 years ago when we picked up our new Labrador puppy from HRH.

It was right on the beach and the food was very good but I can't remember the name.

Thanks for that Chuck. I went to Clacton as a lad and have never been back.
The sand dunes at Hunstanton can be fun. ;-)
Neptune Inn gets good reviews but at £160 for a meal for two including wine and servive, it's to rich for my blood.

gness........I know.....even more fun "behind them."
"Hunstanton is the only place on the east coast where the sun sets into the sea. Most strange."

And Lee over sand, and Margate.
I stand corrected, Chuck.
Question Author
sqad are you saying the dunes are the place for crams?
Question Author
Thanks Graham for the steer on the Neptune.
Although it does depend on the time of year, Margate gets a Sea sunset in Summer, Lee over Sands gets one in winter. to be fair I think Hunstanton is the only place that gets it year round.
LOL...."crabs?"
Question Author
Sorry. Finger trouble sqad.
I have family in Hunstanton (pronounced "Hunsden" by the locals). The town is a bit "fish and chippy" and decent restaurants are scarce. The Caley Hall Hotel in Old Hunstanton (just along past the lighthouse) sometimetimes does crab. If you don't mind driving, Wells-next-the-Sea about fifteen miles along the coast is a better bet.
We, the whole family (6 adults and 2 children) stayed in Old Hunstanton last year and loved it. Didn't eat out as youngest granddaughter was very young but found a fab chinese restaurant/take away. Intend to holiday there again maybe next year. Lovely place.
I hear that Cromer crabs are the best
