The ending nothing like I anticipated. What do you think? I'm bemused!

Me too. We were led to believe that Ian was dead and he was in "ghostly" form. In fact he was nuts. I enjoyed it though.

I thought he was a ghost too - but what a nutcase!!! And no end to the story!! Can only assume ......

I too thought from early on that he was nutty - but I didn't envisage it going the way it went. I really thought he'd been killed and was now a ghost narrating the story. Surprise, surprise!
I missed it the other week when it was on for the first time and was chuffed that they repeated it because my missus said it was very poignant. I taped it tonight but have yet to watch it, so I'll be disappointed if it was rubbish.
Sorry, I got completely befuddled and got the programmes mixed up - I was waffling on about 'The Best Of Men', repeated earlier tonight on BBC2.

I gave up watching 'The Last Weekend' after the first episode - rubbish.

We recorded it and the blooming thing stopped before the end so could someone please tell me what happened?? We got just past where Ian visited what's her name and she tells him to sling his hook and she never wants to see him again...did we miss something crucial?
Thank you.

Ethandron, Not really. He was completely nuts - convinced that the two of them were an item - and we were left with the distinct impression that he wasn't going to give up. Creepy!
Oh right, thanks Naomi, I thought we'd missed something which explained things. It was creepy but also fascinating, two very good lead actors, and like you said in your op, bemusing!
Thanks :)
I've just watched it on ITV player and when it finished I looked to see if there was supposed to be another one! A bit disappointing at the end, but aren't these dramas always disappointing nowadays...
yes the ending was a bit unexpected. a bit dissapointing as it couldve had more twists and turns with the charachters they had. TBH the son was a bit of a redundant role.
Question Author
Yes, he was really. I wonder if there will be a follow up? It did leave it all a bit up in the air with him still free to harrass her.
Can someone give me a succinct version of the third episode, I had a series record set up but the dish got covered by a rampant climber and I didn't get episode three!
l found zebo's 'rampant climber' comment a bit hilarious... Anyhoo.. read the book first and he seems perfectly fine, so the program was a bit of a let down... but I get the 'ghost' theme that others have mentioned (not that was how the book felt).. Summary.. bit wishy washy...
