Hi, I was hoping if you would be able to help me out here.

I am 43, fat and unfit! There I said it! I have lower back pain [did have surgery in 1993 for a prolapsed disc], arthritis in both ankle and plantar fasciitis in both feet and have had for three years and counting! My knees hurt and it's spreading to my hips.
A guy I walk my dogs with keeps saying that I would benefit so much from practising yoga. I agree but the issue I have is a total lack of funds right now and was hoping you may be able to point me in the direction of a Youtube video or a dvd I could buy on Ebay.
I know this is not the best way to go about it but I NEED to do something and would prefer it if I was following something that was recommended.

Any ideas gratefully accepted.

Thanks yogasun, I bought that one. Just one more question if you're around. I assume I will need some sort of mat too?

Thank you cath, that's really sweet of you to offer x

Let me know how you get on divegirl. I have arthritis pain in my hips, knees and lower back. I've had a hip replacement and not sure if I can manage certain exercises, so I'm hoping for a miracle at the mo, stopping smoking didn't help the weight gain either. Although I have to say I feel better for all the walking I've done this past week. Been away on a short holiday to Wales.
Hi divegirl.
Yes you need a proper Yoga mat that is non slip both sides, - not just an 'exercise' mat. They are widely available at (now) competitive prices but I have to say that Tesco sell one that's fine for indoor practice at a very good price. When I started Yoga in 1974(!!) you could only get proper Yoga mats from one or two distributors. Otherwise eBay if no Tesco near you. x

Lovely, just sent number one son off to his Amazon account to buy me a belated birthday gift ;0)

Will do AYG, I feel you pain with the stopping smoking thing even though I now use am e-cig, I'm sure it didn't help. Combine that with surgery in February and I've just not been on top of things. I'm not a small lass anyway but I hate the way I feel right now.... I'm hoping the Yoga will benefit body, mind and soul.
