Women and cushions!

Why do women of all ages tend to sit on the sofa cuddling the cushion?

Or am I the only one to have noticed this? Or is it only in my family?

I don't cuddle a cushion and I don't know any other women that do.

i don't cuddle cushions, i use them as back support (and i never ever have to hide behind them...)

I only have one cushion and I only have it because it's my nans. It used to be on her office chair when I was a kid. I don't cuddle it.

I don't think I cuddle cushions. I prefer to cuddle OH or the cat, depending on who's available at the time

When I was in SE Asia the girls used to refer to a bolster cushion or pillow as a "Dutch Husband". When sleeping alone the girl/woman could wrap herself around it etc.

In television scenes, actresses sometimes cuddle cushions to hide the fact that they are pregnant in real life.

I never cuddle cushions, the only time I will is during a scary film to hide behind !
I have a female friend who ALWAYS embraces a cushion when on the sofa, be it at my place, her place, wherever a cushion is available she will have it in her arms, but she is a large lady - maybe hides a multitude subconsciously.

I've never cuddled a cushion in my life - I'd rather cuddle my dog or OH (if he's lucky) ....
