Well don't we all remember the good times.......there weren't too many of them when I was young...there was a bloomin' war on....Rose coloured specs are a good way to forget the bad...and believe me there were plenty of those...;-)

Nothing gets up my nose more than people waffling on about how wonderful it was when kids died of polio, racial and sexual abuse was socially acceptable, your class designated where you yourself would end up in the world and capital punishment with flawed evidence and hearsay was our weapon of choice against crime. As my 74 year old MIL said to me after overhearing such a conversation 'silly old bugg3rs'.

what about wife beating when the poor victim would insist she bashed into a door and said it so many times that in the end she actually believed it, there were no refuges to run to and the police did not interfere in those days.
