Best option would be to make a shorlist based on whatever criteria you think is important - and go and visit them. SATs results don't tell the whole picture.

I was looking for secondary schools in Surrey. I found some good info on County Council site:

It provides a search engine that gives a list of schools in the county, along with links to their Ofsted reports.
