Mothering Sunday. Have a look at http://www.pubquizhelp.34sp.com/time/mothers_day_facts.html which gives away a lot of useless / intersting stuff.

It's called Laetare Sunday because the Introit (the chant which is sung as the priest approaches the altar at the beginning of the service) of the Latin Mass on that day begins "Laetare Jerusalem" - Rejoice, Jerusalem.

Just in case you needed to know that as well!

I always thought it was called Laetare Sunday (Rejoice Sunday) when I was little because it's in the middle of Lent and you could have a "day off" from whatever you'd given up for Lent on that day, so yippee! But that could just have been my mum being nice to me on Mothering Sunday!

I agree, surely it took just as long to have written that as to type it correctly?
