I used this website for years to contact old friends & make new ones. I liked to play the games, one in particular, and challenge others to take me on. I am now playing against myself, not much fun at all.
I believe that thousands of former FR users have now left the site after it was updated. Why was it changed? If things aren't broken, don't fix 'em!
Never had anyone I recalled contact me. After all the intervening years I often had problems putting faces to the names I saw anyway. I always felt it was a disappointment I suspect if it had any kind of draw for folk, any sort of service that was valued, then a facelift wouldn't have devastated it.
I rediscovered lots of former schoolfriends from the 1940s & 1950s. Some of them now join me at the annual school reunions that I have attended for many years.
I have used it a lot in the past and have been contacted by lots of people (mainly ex-pupils as I was a teacher). The upgrade is awful and I wouldn't be surprised if people stopped using it so much as it's much more difficult to search around but I suspect the real reason is most have gravitated to Facebook which is far more versatile and popular.
I was a member for a short while, never got beyond brief details of what/where etc,so not botherany more.Feel that if not kept in touch is because not interested, that part of life past
I haven't looked at the site for ages but just logged on...............it's terrible. Except someone has posted a picture of my school sports house when I was 7.............the daughter will kill herself laughing when I show her.
Yes they totally ruined it, I've told them but they insist it is better, I never use it now, and yes I had contact from several old friends, before they beggared about with it. Can't even find myself on it anymore!!!
The couple that started Friends Reunited were onto a really good thing and were very clever in selling it on when they did. It`s changed hands a few times I think (ITV owned it at one time). That`s why it keeps changing. It was superceded by Facebook and the like but was good in it`s day. I became friends again with a schoolfriend from my junior school who left the area when we were young. We had a school reunion due to FR as well.

If you click on "see all members" in the Classmates page you can filter by years, but I suspect that at the last change people were asked to confirm they wished to retain membership, and that's why many are now missing (because they didn't bother).
I've only used it intermittently, but it has put me in touch with a very good friend who lives 45 minutes drive away, and had done for 20+ years. We now meet every few weeks, and our wives get on even better than we do!
