Kangchenjunga 28208 ft / 8597 metres

But the Chinese have been re-assessing heights and they have a new one for Everest which may alter the orders!!!!!!!

Otherwise, ans. as above.....still really big.

Incidentally, that would be 6.4 Ben Nevis' piled on top of each other (theoretically speaking).

Mount Everest would be 6.6 BN's

Did you know that Everest is named after the Englishman George Everest?

He was a surveyor who did a lot of work in that area.

I always think the name Mount Everest sounds powerful and magestic.

Can you imagine if he had been called Ramsbottom or something like that, Mount Ramsbottom does not have the same ring to it.

In Nepal the mountain is called Sagarmatha (सगरमाथा, Sanskrit for "Forehead of the Sky").

So it could have been Mount Slaphead or Mount Tefal.
I believe that the new revised height for Mt Everest is 29035 ft rather than the previous 29028 ft, so it doesn't affect the order of the top three. Did you know that George's surname was actually pronounced "Eve-rest" rathr than "Ever-est"?
Did'nt they name it after a double glazing company?
