Why ?

Why do women subject themselves to what looks like discomfort and possible future health problems - all in the name of 'fashion' ?
Saw this young lady earlier tiptoeing along the pavement , who looked like she was just learning to walk or negotiating a mine field , her ankles and feet having trouble supporting her body .
Then I noticed that she was wearing one of these shoes with at least a 3 and 6 inch sole and heels respectively .
Is this the height of fashion nowadays ?

Women don't follow fashion, however painfully, for the sake of men, that's certain; we never notice. It must be to feel better in themselves, to impress other women, and to make Sir Philip Green even richer.

When ever i read about this I always remember one night baby sitting for my niece while she and her husband went to his rugby club dance she's just under 6ft and looked stunning in a long evening dress and a pair of Docs, her reply when I mentioned them was that nobody would notice them under a floor length dress and apart from that they were a dam sight more comfortable then 4" heels.
Loads of flats about at the moment. I can't do heels anymore though never wore silly ones. It amazes me the amount of girls you see on some frighteningly high heels round here, especially the ones where you feet are put at weird angles struggling to get anywhere - must take them ages - and I'm almost scared to watch then trying to cross busy city roads.
I find watching people in some of the Ugg style boots uncomfortable to watch too though as they never seem to fit properly and aren't right round the heels.

I have a lovely pair of heels I finally gave in to and wore a year ago NYE and I had a sitting on a chair which wasn't where I thought it was incident and still have some of the bruising nearly 2 years later! I won a lovely dress last year for the Christmas party season and they gave me some heels to go with it but I can't hack them even with the comfort stuff they gave me to try and make them easier with the arthritis. Wore them for a little bit, mainly while sat down, just to be able to then switched to flats.
Sorry to say I wore them when I was much younger because my husband liked me to wear high heels. Given a choice I would have worn no more than two inch heels. I am suffering for it now with callouses on the front of my sole and corns on the tops of my toes where my feet were pressed forward instead of being flat as they should have been. He was worth it though.
