My Daughter has an interview for an expensive ladies lingerie shop. They have specified "must be sized between 6 and 12 and be attractive". She meets these requirements, but is this legal to state this in adverts in this day and age?

If she's being employed as a model then it's probably ok. If not, then it sounds dodgy.
Thing is, legal or not, what are you prepared to do about it?
A job's a job but these sound a right set, so if she doesn't get the job I wouldn't lose any sleep.
'Attractive' - means intricate facial tattoos in some cultures, strategically removed teeth in others, in possession of an invented nose in California - i wonder if they could be a bit more precise...
How about nice with customers, numerate, honest....

Shop assistant as a part-time college job.
no-idea if it helps, but we would not be able to put a rec ad in the paper with that wording
Well you don't see many fat lasses in Agent Provocateur...............
Will she be modelling them or something?!!

Does it also state must be female? Be fantastically funny if a bloke also fitted those requirements and applied :-)
B00 one of the top models for ladies haute couture is actually a man........
Yeah seen him, he's very attractive in an odd kinda way isn't he?
WOT, is that right, crafty ?
Yes he's called Andrej Pejic.................look him up.
The guys in Abercrombie and Fitch are all dead horny.
... and gay
Why do men do that? LOL

As soon as you go "Oooo he's nice" you'll invariably get a male snorting "gay!" as a reply.
It's not legal as it is gender specific.

I can understand requesting a female as its measuring ladies busts for bra fittings - but considering this Company sell sizes 6 to 20 don't understand why they insist on assistant who gets job must be size 6-12!
Is it a chain of shops? If so, one would assume that they know about discrimination, if it's a local store maybe they have over-stepped the mark?
I don't know if it's legal but it must be an often used criteria - have you seen the girls who work in the cosmetics dept in Harrods for example? They're all minute stunners.
HC, some jobs are allowed to be gender specific, and I suspect this would qualify.
