That's Prader Willi syndrome Starbuck .I have a relative with this .It's a horrible thing and they can't do anything about it .They can't stop eating and will even forage in bins for food .

It's receptor in the brain that's missing .Whereas we know when we are full up,they don't .It's quite rare.
I don't know if this other poor chap has it .No doubt he would have been tested .

I remember when I was in hospital when my gallbladder got infected having a girl brought in next to me with more problems with a gastric band she had had fitted, she'd lost a load of weight but had quite a few problems with it by the sound of it.
