how many of you have started to use facebook and stopped using email?
and did you tell all the folks you used to email that you were not doing that any more? the reason I ask is I phoned one of my neices to ask if she was having trouble with her laptop as I had sent her emails that she had not answered, only to be told "oh sorry auntie, I do facebook now instead" and went on to say her sisters and cousins do facebook as well now, well I don't, does that mean they don't want to keep in touch with me? could they not have sent one more email to tell me? how bad mannered is that?
I don't think it's that Cecil, I think what she meant was that because she the majority of her emails via facebook now as do lots of younger people that she simply hasn't checked her emails so didn't realise you'd been trying to get in touch with her.
I have people I chat to through FB and people who i email and people who I text.
I certainly wouldn't stop emailing friends and family and say FB or nothing.
I don't know the age of your niece but am guessing that she is of the instant messaging age where it's all about the moment.
Although I rarely write letters now I do like to keep personal emails to return to at a later date and obviously see the need for retaining business emails.
I don't think your niece was being deliberately rude, she simply has a different perspective to communication.
I use both. It depends who I'm messaging when (and the best way to contact them). I get my emails via my phone and have Facebook on it so can do either when out and about.
I rarely write emails but I check them 2-3 times a day so if anyone contacted me that way I'd reply as email. Most of my friends who I would email are on FB anyways so it doesn't matter too much to me.
it is a shame cecil, and it has happened to me. Theres one or two family members who used to email but i know its facebook that they are into now. So i dont do f/book very much and I've stopped wondering why they never email. Not to worry ay x
I use e-mail for mainly for business matters, and generally check it every day. Of course anyone not on FB will e-mail or phone. I don't stay on FB all that much really, its nice to keep in touch with friends and family that I don't see very often on there though.
this has taught me a lot, thanks pusskin I'm glad its not just me, I suppose I better get up to date and do facebook, I wonder whats next though? maybe it won't be long before facebook is replaced by something else.
