So I was just trying to put a textbook back on the shelf and i had to walk through this group of guys to do so(one of them is my crush and ive caught him looking at me) but they were having a conversation so I was "Excuse me". Then they all just stopped talking. I thought it was quite strange since one of them was mid sentence! And then i walked away. At the same time the guy i talk to most in that class started singing and my crushes friend said "thats your competition". What happened?

Here's my interpretation (warning: I am 70 so well out of touch with modern youth behaviour). Your crush's friend obviously thinks the singer fancies you (you are in the best position to know whether this is likely or whether he is just a friend you talk to a lot) and he (your crush's friend again) also thinks (or knows) your crush fancies you.

What was the song incidentally, it may have some bearing on this puzzle of personal preferences.
