Beautiful places to visit

I am looking to take my friend from Sweden out for a few days to picturess enchanting places in England, by nice places like canals, historic towns, castles etc,

I am not looking for obvious places like Tower of London or Hampton court palace she has seen all those....

ANY ideas really welcomed :-)

I am in north London willing to travel about 2-3 hours max I am scared of driving too far I did devon once I dont know how I managed that!!

Could you drive down to Kent? Canterbury is nice. Hever Castle is lovely too.

And the Cotswolds, towns like Chipping Camden, Stowe, Bourton on the Water, the Slaughters, Burford and even over to Broadway all beautiful and full of lovely old buildings, good hotels and food and antique shops etc..........

Definitely the Cotswolds.

Shrewsbury and bits round Shropshire have some lovely old Tudor buildings and countryside, Cardingmill Valley is lovely and they have an old fashioned Victorian town at Blists Hill at Ironbridge (and a lot of historial industrial revolution related things). It might be a bit far though!

Warwick Castle looks great, I've wanted to go there for ages!

How about Rye down in East Sussex? A lovely town, we used to holiday there when my daughter was young. Another nice drive is along the south coast from Rye, past Dover heading out towards Deal that part of the coast is very pretty, then you could head inland towards Canterbury

Constable Country is not too far from you and very picturesque.
Follow the A12 towards Ipswich and after Colchester, look for signs to Dedham and East Begholt.

There's also Cambridge with its colleges and punting on the river.

Greenwich is a lovely day out, there's the Maritime Museum, Greenwich Meantime and beautiful parks. You can leave go into town and take a boat ride there.

I wouldn't exactly call Blenheim Palace or Camden Market enchanting... but yes, all the others are nice and within 2-3 hours. You might be better doing Brighton by train, though.

Canterbury. Canterbury. Canterbury (it's very nice)
Matins in any of the country or parish churches that still work.
The great court at the British Museum.
