Racing motorcycle fuel

What is used as fuel in racing motorcycles?
I was working at Brands Hatch today and there were several categories practising, one of which gave off a smell that I've noticed before - quite a nice smell a bit like chip-oil! Is it just castor oil added to petrol or something else?

Castrol R Racing oil in my day.

My mate used to pour a drop of Castrol R in his petrol tank to stink every street out every street he drove down.
