Wouldn't the simplest thing be to ask your dentist? And floss daily!
I think they claim to help stop the build up of plaque.

Are you brushing properly and for long enough?

I would suggest to get your dentist to remove the plaque and then invest in an electric toothbrush.
If you've got a build up of plaque you need to get it removed by a dentist, maybe not cheap but it won't break the bank. To prevent build up again brush teeth twice a day and do brush the back of your teeth and every couple of days dip your toothbrush and toothpaste into bicarbonate of soda then brush.

i brush my teeth usually twice daily, always have. and not just a quick once over.
I'd really invest in a decent electric toothbrush. Dentists can tell by your teeth if you use one.
My dentist was surprised when I told him I didn't use an electric brush as I do not have any build up of plaque when I go for check ups.
Like what Umm says - electric toothbrush, good for cleaning and for perking up your gums.
Go for a Sonic Toothbrush - they are the best for removing plaque and leave your teeth as smooth as glass.

Better than an electric one, in my opinion.
my dentist said electric toothbrushes are a waste of money, he advised a soft brush, not rinsing and regular use of interdental brushes after meals.

i must google sonic toothbrush, it seems to be the toothbrush, but it isn´t electric, i thought oralb cornered that market.

just googled, now even more confused, first of all, i take it sonic is made by Philips. According to amazon, they offer 2 choices, both rechargables, either the HX5350, at 25quid, or the HX6731 at 60 quid. Or theres Braun oral b at 30quid.
I believe my sonic toothbrush is made by OralB. Not that anything is a total solution. I still get build up, and since I've had a dentist who does not automatically remove plaque build up without being asked, I now have unsightly marks I've not had before, despite the toothbrush. I think it is a fact of life it builds up, just need the dentist to remove excess every now & again.
Try Phillips Sonicare. Fabulous toothbrush.
Oh and a sonic one is electric (rechargable battery); how else is it going to create sonic waves ?
