Car Seat Chaos!

We are trying to buy our first ever car seat (for new born) and although both our cars have ISOFIX, our Ford Kuga when checked against Maxi-Cosi and Britax website says ISOFIX cannot be used as there is a storage area under the car seat making it unsafe/unstable. If thats the case why put ISOFIX in?! Our other car, Nissan Qashqai seems to be ok
Is it best for us to speak to the car companies to see which car seats they recommend or the car seat companies? Seems to be a lot of coflicting advise.
We basically want an ISOFIX car seat that we can use with the new Bugaboo Cameleon3 but prooving more complicated than we thought!
Anyone had similar issues would appreciate your help- thanks

First of all, congratulations!

It's a minefield buying car seats. We went to Mothercare and they were brilliant. They checked what kind of cars we would be using and showed us which car seats would be best. There was no pressure from them to buy from them, but I ended up getting the seat from them anyway.

You could always go there, see what they recommend and then have a hunt on the internet to see if you can get a better price.

Thanks 2sp - little'un has not yet arrived, but due 2nd December, we are trying to be organised - easier said than done!
Yes we went to Mothercare and they were really helpful as have John Lewis, and have offered for us to take our car in to be checked etc.
Just frustrating that Ford have sold us a car with the supposed 'ease' of ISOFIX and now looks like none of the seats we have looked at are approved!!
