is it ok to mix memory brands .i:e 1gb pc 3200 ddr by corsair and 1gb pc 3200 ddr by bravo or perhaps an unbranded stick.

The thing with mixing RAM is that you might not even be mixing. There are actually only a few RAM manufacturers: Micron, Samsung, Infineon, and Hynix. The rest are RAM assemblers e.g. Corsair DIMMs use Samsung chips as do some types of Kingston DIMMs, but Kingston also uses Micron chips in some of its memory, as used in Crucial DIMMs.
