Hair extension help...?

Which type of hair extensions cause the least damage to hair, aside from clip in?
I currently use those but am after something a bit more permanent.

Have been growing it after spending a year with my hair (naturally choc brown) bleach blonde, I went back to the dark side 7 months ago along with having a good four inches chopped off and have been nursing it back to health ever since. It's at an awkward in-between stage and just looks awful whatever I do to it, and I try to heat style it as little as possible, so as not to damage it any more than it already is... hence wanting the extensions!
