and,,, my friend does't eat pork. That is why i cooked lamb. As it turns out, there is beeping pork in the stock, so I had to eat it all to myself... :) I asked him if it was for religious reasons, as he is Asian, but he said NO! Quite sternly, and I can tell he takes it very seriously, saying that he thinks its disgusting and why would anyone want to eat something that our bodies cant digest... I dare not tell him that the other meat I bought today was guess what... marinated pork!!! He would have freaked! I fully respect religion and my friends choices. It's only today I realised how strong his views are on it. It's something I've never encountered before. :)

I know a lady who would refused to have any fresh cream cakes (even though she loved them) because they had actually been placed on the buffet table on a plate next to a bowl of fresh strawberries which she couldn't bear to eat ........ she said the air from the strawberries had been circulating around the cakes .................... mad as a hatter!
Pork gets itself into everything - toothpaste, soap, gravy mixes, jellies...
If your friend is Muslim, ignorance is bliss:
he scholars of the Standing Committee for Issuing Fatwas were asked:
A man ate pork without realizing, then another man came to him after he had finished eating and told him that it was pork, and as we know, pork is haraam for Muslims. What should he do?
They replied:
He does not have to do anything about that, and there is no sin on him, because he did not know that it was pork. But he has to be careful and be cautious in the future. End quote.
Shaykh ‘Abd al-‘Azeez ibn Baaz, Shaykh ‘Abd al-Razzaaq ‘Afeefi, Shaykh ‘Abd-Allaah ibn Qa’ood.

If his body digests everything I guess he saves a fortune on toilet paper. He just wants to make sure it doesn't heal up.
Not rejecting it for religious or moral reasons, and apparently not because of taste issues, so just being awkward then. Well he's entitled to his view, but I'm glad he is your friend rather than mine.

I believe it is much the same as getting into heaven hc4361. God does not unfairly bar the savage with no knowledge of the true religion from a heavenly reward, so they get a free pass in. But spread the good word and they are then judged on their actions. How cruel are the missionaries then to load that on others.
