Getting to make coffee at home that tastes the same as coffee shop's coffee, has always been the coffee lovers dream.

Has anyone ever come close and if so by what method or coffee machine?

I use Nespresso...great coffee in a flash....big selection of flavours at around 25/30 pence a shot....great crema and the best espresso I have had anywhere. Use the shot to make three layer latte or cappuchino with my seperate milk frother. Maybe you can do better with very expensive machines..my (rich and daft ) son paid well over £1000 for his... but better than any automatic coffee I have tasted..and I am a coffee Geek ;-

For great coffee in a hurry...go Nespresso....IMHo...
I was very lucky and hubby bought me a coffee machine 5 years ago that cost £289 it was damned good, if broke recently and I decided to replace it with just a filter coffee machine - it still cost £89 though!

Wow it seems rather complicated just choosing the correct type of coffee.

Do you have to have the special machine, because I have a machine that takes ordinary simple pods, could I use that?

I was given a Dolce Gusto for Christmas last year and I love it. It's small, very easy to clean and makes good coffee in a few seconds. I've had other coffee makers in the past but this is by far the best.
Sorry for the delay AoG...but yes you do need a Nespresso Machine..cheapest around £100...and another small(?) problem is that the only way to get pods is to order direct online from Nespresso....you can get imitation ones from Amazon but the price ice about double you pay direct from Nesspresso....

Cost per pod seems and is pretty cheap..BUT you have to order in batches of 100 and to get the real benefit which is free postage, at least 200pods....saving about £8....which means an outlay of around £60 for an order of pods....mmm...yes it seems a lot but think of it as just less than 30p a shot.....:-)
