rover metro handbrake cable

i have a rover metro, L reg. The handbrake cable has snapped, i have looked in the haynes manual it says i have to remove the seats, seatbelt columns, carpet etc. Is there any easier way i can do this without taking it to a garage?

Haynes are usually the bible of car maintenance, so I doubt anyone will be able to come up with a shortcut. Having said that, although the things you have to take out sound complicated (and heavy) it shouldn't be too tough a job. Haynes will guide you step-by-step.
