For the record I cant stand Cameron or Osbourne and whilst Boris seems to be a good Mayor there is a big difference between Mayor and PM.
And would people really vote for Ed Milliband (his brother maybe but him?) After all what it looks like from this poll is a popularity contest rather than what they can really achieve.
I blame x factor and the like.

In tough times, people like charismatic leaders. But the election is scheduled for 2015 and it is more likely that the Party will wait and see how badly Cameron does then before dumping him, unless the polls show he is personally far more unpopular than currently and that is dragging the Party down.
Bit difficult to know exactly what Boris thinks on key matters. But he does give the impression that he's not a great one for compromise and the coalition.
He has only the experience of Mayor as an administrator, not in government, but that may not count for much . Obama, another charismatic figure, had none and Mrs Thatcher had little. I think Boris would make a better PM now. Cameron seems far too wishy-washy and not a person whom people would choose to follow in difficult times.

Rather a ludicrous scenario I think.
Party ditches leader just because opinion poll suggests they might be a bit more popular for an election which isn't in any case going to happen until 2015.
It also assumes that the electorate would buy the "traditional Tory policies" which would, it seems all be part of the package, and also exaggerates the effect that party leaders' personalities have on what are not, thank God, presidential elections. It's all very well telling a pollster mid-term, when specifically asked a particular question, that you WOULD vote Tory if BJ was the leader ...
Sadly I don't think even the Tories are that dumb ...

the Parliament is mid term......there is not going to be an election for two years, things can change awfuly quickly in politics....the pre election budget and the militancy of the unions (heckling Balls at the TUC was a truly wonderful moment!!) will mostly decide the outcome.
Mid term polls such as these are a waste of time and simply give the news channels and press something to talk about on 'slow news days'.
