Try half a cup full of washing powder and fill the pan with hot water. Leave it over night, and you should have a head start in the morning. If that fails, ditch the pan.
my remedy is to put in about an inch of water and a couple of teaspoons of bicarbonate of soda and let it simmer (watch it doesnt boil over) dont leave it while its simmering coz i'm not sure how safe a remedy it is, but i have survived so far. the burnt bits should start to come loose pretty quick, depends on how well you've burnt it.
avoid the brillos if possible coz you will scratch the surface and then things will burn on even more in future, i'd be interested to know if this new fairy stuff that ainsley harriot advertises works, perhaps thats woth a go :-)
thanks for the answers ,wasnt expecting them so quick.
ive left the pan with hot water and vinegar in it overnight on advice from my nan .if it doesnt work i'll try the bicarb and the washing powder then i'll get the angle grinder out!
This really works! Cover the base with liquid washing up detergent, put it back on the heat until really hot. Take it off and clean it when it's cooler.
thanks for all the replies but the vinegar did the trick ,the black carbon like stuff washed off this morning which suprised me.
my nans a wise old bird.
