This message has appeared on the screen for the last 5 or 6 times I've started to switch off the computer. How to get rid of it?

If you get the "Updates Ready" or "Installing Updates" balloon, click on the icon on the bottom tray and watch the process. It would help to know which update is failing.

See if you can work out if you are running "Windows Update" or "Microsoft Update" (check your Start menu). Click on either "Windows Update" or "Microsoft Update" and go to the website...

You can't, you don't want to, you need the updates. My computer just closes itself down once the updates are complete.

I get this when Microsoft are sending updates to my computer, just let them run and your computer should auto switch off when complete.

They are probably Windows updates. They are a pain because you don`t know about them until you try to shut down. You should let them install though.

It seems as though this is stuck in a loop. In the past the number of updates has varied and I've rarely got more than one on the same day.

It's no big deal, the computer does eventually switch itself off.

I had 11 updates last week, I'd logged off here and the message came up
Do not power off etc. when I wanted to shut down to go to bed. So I waited up until they had been done. Not realising the laptop would close down itself when finished.

Thank you all. Made my way to Control Panel-Window Updates and from there, following instructions, managed to install it.
