My neighbour has some issues with the parking in our over crowded cul-de-sac. He hates it if anyone parks on 'his' bit of pavement and has so far painted a line on the pavement showing where 'his' bit of pavement starts, sent us a fake letter pretending to be from the police (demanding that himself takes his documents to the local station), chained a concrete filled traffic cone to his fence and placed it at the end of 'his' bit of pavement. He has now positioned a rickety old bicycle in the middle of the pavement outside of his house which he has made/found a stand for which allows the bike to stand upright (the bike is padlocked to his fence with two separate chains). My problem now is stopping himself from doing something equally as childish to irritate the neighbour further.

C'mon Towie, you can't leave it there
I will take this with me to the 'grave'............oops wrong thread...
Oi, C'mon Essex ?
..... Now I need to know too! Come on spill...
A friend of mine had similar aggro with her neighbours over parking and their
irate neighbour was seen to put broken glass outside her house. Don't remember the outcome. It was just a sad neighbour who got everybody's backs up in the road and hated everyone with no genuine reason to do so.

I feel a bit sorry for him, he has isolated himself from all of his neighbours (who seem quite normal). He has a number of cars and trailers and he is always moving them around and wrapping them in some sort of covers and then moving them about again, he must be constantly fussing about stuff. I took a delivery in for them and the delivery man (with no prompting from me) was quite happy to tell me about how mad the neighbour was and how relieved he was not to have to deal with him.
sherrardk - I would check he doesn't have a gun collection, I know this sounds silly, but he sounds very unhinged.

Hi Towie, he works at the local (v well known) army camp so I presume he has been vetted at some stage. Just the thought process, effort and expense involved makes me wonder just how barmy he is. When the police have been here it has been obvious that they 'know' him in some capacity (lots of eye rolling, etc). I am not bothered, more amused, but if he ever has cause to speak to any of my children in an off way then I will be having words (himself can look after himself).
Bloody hell sherrardk, not the S.A.S. ?

Well, obviously I know that! There's helicopters about all the time and people jumping out of them, I think it's really interesting . Father Christmas comes to the local primary school in a helicopter and every tiny fete and event has people parachuting in! Went to the fireworks at the camp one year and it was brilliant, they jumped out of helicopters absolutely covered in glow sticks and the fireworks were ace too.
Yep, sounds great, sherrardk.
The Civil Service is a well known haven for odd-balls!
I visited Hereford many times in the early 70's. Loved the cathedral and seeing the Map of Mundi and the chained library. The locals tried to get me to drink the local cider with loads of bits floating in it. Young as I was I credited myself with more sense.

The village we live in is ugly as sin but the people are so kind and thoughtful. The helicopter activity is a plus in my mind, the long time locals don't seem to notice it (there is a row of houses across the road from us and then it is the camp so lots going on).
