Raised Alk Phos Again....
3 Answers
I posted about my blood results a couple of months ago here... http:// www.the answerb .../Que stion11 49636.h tml
I've just had the test repeated and my alk phos levels have come back too high again. They say it's nothing really to worry about but that is four times it has been too high now. I just don't understand! I've got an appointment in November so I will ask properly then but can anyone help me understand a wee bit more just now?
Thanks!! :-)

The alkaline phophatase is an enzyme in all cells of the body, but particularly in high concentrations in the liver and bone and any disease process which attacks these two organs will enable the enzyme to "spew" out into the blood stream.
In the liver one thinks about gallstones and in the bones, osteoporosis.
Also certain medications, particularly containing female hormones can raise the alkaline phophatase levels.
If you feel well in yourself don't worry, just ask your Dr. in November.
