Sqad - Your Opinion Please

Morning Sqad - I take my Thyroxine first thing in the morning - this can be anytime between 6.30 to 10.30. I always feel really low of a morning - mood wise - I always 'come to' late afternoon and in the evening. I am wondering if I take my Thyroxine at night say around 12 midnight, which is the time I would normally go to bed - do you think it would make much difference ?

However, if I were you, I would certainly give it a go, take your thyroxine at midnight and give it a trial for at least one to two months and I would be interested in your comments.

i've been told off by my practise nurse after an MOT because having been erratic taking my thyroxine for quite a long period, i.e. not being routine with it and sometimes going days without remmebering to take it) I have now developed a disease that is secondary to the hyperthyroidism that has caused my arteries to have a build up of bad cholesterol, apparently the thyroid has some impact on dealing with the body's bad cholesterol and if the thyroxine isn;t allowed to work this can happen, i am therefore now at risk of a stroke, the nurse said. i haven't seen my GP but she scared me enough to make be be absolutely sure i take it every morning as soon as i walk into the kitchen. i had another tft 3 weeks ago and the doctor has not sent a letter telling me there is a further issue. i hope i can undo the damage i have done to myself by taking my tablet properly and being careful with my diet. i also noticed that not taking it regularly might have given me anxiety issues as i had been having heart burn and palpitations over night, the palpitations have stopped but the heartburn is still there whe i am rushing about at work,
i guess the thyroid is more important than i gave it credit for,

sorry to hear that, Dotty - the thyroid plays a bit part in the body - I don't actually have one, as I had it removed 7 years ago, so am very dependant upon my Thyroxine. I have always taken my regularly, but last summer my levels shot up which mean't the Thyroxine wasn't doing its job. I have never felt so ill with fatique.
I also have high cholesterol, in fact I have to see the practice nurse this afternoon - mine is 7.9. -she will lecture me and I will refuse to take statins.
