Help with my Hostas

My Hostas are dying off now (they are in pots) would it be best to cut them back or just leave them to rot. The same question applies to my Arum lilys (they are also in pots).Any advice would be greatly appreciated.Thanks.

I always cut my Hostas back to the ground, doesn't seem to do any harm, don't know if that's the best thing for them or not though.

I can't remember what I did last year,but they look really scruffy at the moment.

I've got three that need repotting, so they'll require some rather brutal cutting of the roots in order to get them out, I've done the same in the past without any problems at this time of year, so I think removing the leaves will be fine.

Hi giveup.
Re Hostas'just cut the leaves off and if possible move to a sheltered spot, they are very tough plants. Too propagate them just take 2 forks and place them back to back and lever the root ball apart, or split with a sharp spade.
Afraid I can't help with your rum lilys.

As previously stated, you an cut them back to make them look a little neater.. the leaves die off an leave a mess to clean up in the spring if you don't do it now...
