Can Anyone recommend a good cheap plumber in Crouch end our has suddenly been diagnosed with cancer and is very ill.

I'm afraid that good plumbers are as rare as hens teeth these days, and good cheap plumbers are probably non existent. (They're all seem to have discovered the vast sums of money they can command due to a national shortage). Suggest you look in the yellow pages and if you can't find one advertising there, phone your local builders merchants (also in yellow pages) . They may have a few contacts.

There is good and bad in all walks of life and just because there is a shortage of plumbers they should not all be branded as substandard. What people don't understand is that most plumbers these days have to undergo expensive and ongoing training to keep their legal registrations up to date and also because they want to be the best they can be and have pride in their work.

As for charging, it is only fair to charge the going rate, they are not charities but if you overcharge you don't get repeat business from regular customers and it is a myth that they all charge vast sums of money.

There are plenty of good reasonably priced plumbers out there you just need to find one and look after him. Treat them all with contempt and it's not surprising then if you get high charges!
