Helloooo everyone!

Thinking of re-locating after Xmas with the other half and Leeds is starting to be a definate possibility but neither of us has had a chance to do much research on the area and I thought I'd ask to see if anyone actually lives there or holidays on the outskirts and can give me an idea from first hand experience?
We'll probably look at a quieter part outside the main hussle and bustle so if anyone has any ideas on that score that would be great too!! :) x

You might mean Halton Moor ladybirder, and the car may well have been found in Sheepscar/Roseville road area. That's where my BIL's car was foundafter being pinched in Bramley.
Agree with many of the places already recommended. I used to fancy living in Chapel Allerton, nice places like Alwoodly, Adel and Roundhay too. I lived in Meanwood and wouldn't recommend it, bars and grills on windows and doors were commonplace round there and doublelock central! There are some nice places heading up from Headingley up Otley way and good for commuting.

Avoid studenty areas close to town like Hyde Park, Woodhouse, Burley, Kirkstall and down Holbeck Way, Harehills,
Halton Moor, that's it AYG, thanks. Stolen In Seacroft.
There are some terrific areas around Huddersfield, a little to the south of Leeds but the same general area - good house prices too without the city or 'posh' country premiums that some areas around there attract.
They were a great team in the 70's. Don Revie as manager with Sprake in goal and Madeley, Bremner and Charlton (Jack). Alan Clark, Lorimer, Norman Hunter, Eddy Gray. Sorry that his won't help much but that's all I remember about Leeds. UEFA Cup Winners ?
I'd forgotton about York, Craft will be miffed I didn't mention her area. York is Ok the Minster and shops are busy as a tourist attraction but there are some nice areas around there. Thorner is quiet, Tadcaster and Selby are busy little towns but on the outskirts, and not too far to commute if you have to.
Just been on Rightmove looking at Huddersfield shoota. You're right, definitely a lot cheaper than Leeds areas and some very attractive looking properties. Got to know the good areas though I suppose, same as anywhere else.
I'm not miffed ayg, I love York as I was born here but it is quite insular. I do not like Leeds at all but having said that I don't know it very well. If I had to choose somewhere to live as an 'incomer' I'd be looking at Wetherby.
Wetherby's good as well. I got lost there earlier this year, they've messed about with it since I was last there. Personally I would rather Leeds simply because it has fantastic countryside on its doorstep. Ooh, and it's got a Costco:-) And Harvey Nicks:-))) And Opera North - I think.
As an unbiased person that is toootally impartial I think you should stay in Northumberland...maybe even try a lovely little place called Whitley Bay in Newcastle.... The locals are second to none :D
